Members of the Executive Branch
The PresidentThe president serves as the head of state and government in the United States. He also holds the position of commander-in-chief of the U.S. military. The president works with Congress to implement laws and appoint federal leaders. The White House is the home of the president and his family. Barack Obama is currently the president.

The Vice PresidentThe vice president serves under the president and will take his position if anything happens to the president. The vice president is also the presiding officer within the Senate and will serve as tiebreaker if a vote is ever divided. The vice president is currently Joseph Biden.
CabinetCabinet, which includes independent federal agencies, enforces laws. Members of the cabinet may become president following the line of succession. Members serve on one of the fifteen different executive departments:
Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, Department of Education, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of the Interior, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, Department of State, Department of Transportation, Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. |
